About Lehman College

Lehman College is a senior college of The City University of New York, located in the Bronx, which is the northernmost of the five boroughs of New York City, the only borough located primarily on the mainland. According to the 2009 census estimate, there are more than 1 300 000 people, living within Bronx's limits, making it the fourth-most-populated of the five boroughs, the fourth-largest in land area, and the third-highest in density of population.

Lehman was established in 1931, as the Bronx campus of Hunter College, and became an independent college within the City University in 1968. It gets its name from Herbert Lehman, a former New York governor, United States senator, and philanthropist.

The college currently offers its students more than 90 undergraduate and graduate degree programs and specializations, providing `a wide variety of cross-cutting, interdisciplinary, and innovative programs to support research, learning, and teaching for the campus and the communities it serves.`

Athletics

Lehman's athletic teams are known as the Lightning and they compete in NCAA Division III.
